As we gear up for the next long running campaign, we have been given some details of the world we are in as we develop our characters and their motivations for being in such a world.
The World of Krynn
Per the DM, the following is a description of the current state of the world:
Three centuries ago, the world of Krynn was torn asunder by the Cataclysm, an event that reshaped its very essence and plunged it into darkness. The once-mightly gods faded into myth, leaving mortals to fend for themselves amidst the chaos of famine, plague, and war. The destruction of dragons came to an eerie quietness as their roars were silenced. In the wake of this devastation, civilizations rose and fell, none more grand than the city of Istar, whose arrogance ultimately precipitated the cataclysmic event that shattered the world.
During the Cataclysm, the gods unleashed their wrath upon Istar, unleashing widespread destruction and forever altering the landscape of Krynn. Nations crumbled, continents shifted, and the divine presence withdrew, leaving mortals to navigate a world forever marked by the Before and After Cataclysm eras.
In the aftermath, known as the Time of Darkness, Krynn struggled to rebuild amid the chaos and turmoil. New religions and ideologies sprang up, while ancient civilizations adapted to a world devoid of divine guidance. Yet amidst the darkness, glimmers of hope emerged as societies began to claw their way towards a new dawn, shaping a future forever transformed by the Cataclysm.
Now, in the midst of this turbulent era, the city of Kalaman in Solamnia teeters on the edge of annihilation. Whispers abound of human-led armies marching alongside hobgoblins, minotaurs, and ogres, while neighboring nations either fall silent or swear fealty to an unknown force. As the drums of war grow louder, Kalaman stands as a bastion against the encroaching darkness, its fate hanging precariously in the balance.
Amidst shifting alliances and the relentless advance, the destiny of Kalaman and indeed the entire world hangs in the balance. Only the courageous and resolute dare to stand against the tide of war, for in this crucible of conflict, the fate of nations will be decided, and heroes will rise or fall in the struggle for survival.
A Little about the Town…
